I have also gone down the Japanese DD line and I am about to unlock the tier 7 in the regular manner without using free XP. As well, I have a Sims, and you have to learn to play the Sims without CE anyway. I have the Lo Yang, and I am doing decent in that DD without CE. However, all or nothing responses to a situation are almost never correct. I understand everyone saying, "Don't skip". May as well have done so in the tech tree so you have a better understanding of the line you're playing.
You can't buy commander skills with doubloons, so you are going to have to grind in a premium or at-tier. By T8, it's quite painful to be one of the few left without it. Skipping tiers in the destroyer line means you are not going to have concealment expert, which means you are going to suck. Regarding all the people suggesting Benson, However, if you really want to play IJN DDs, she is the last high point on the line in the current meta. I would love to say Fubuki but I hunt them down relentlessly in my Benson and usually finish an engagement with minimal damage for my trouble. Other decent ships that I have faced but not played are Amagi, North Carolina, and Admiral Hipper. It has great guns, serviceable torps, and finally gets decent detection range.Ģ.) Myoko - If you played Atago, then Myoko will feel roughly similar but with a bit lower range, worse torpedo arcs, and no heal. However, if you really insist on skipping part of a line here are my quick thoughts based on ships that I have actually played:ġ.) Benson - Benson is simply where the USN DD line starts to shine.
Playing each ship in a line, no matter how painful it may be, gets you accustomed to the evolving meta and the tactics you will need to use to be successful in a ship. I would recommend not skipping any tiers.
